One person commented on her post calling the stairs “tacky”, and Laura responded with a Reel on Instagram.

“That’s like exactly what I’m going for,” she wrote over the top.

She added in the caption: “There’s always one, isn’t there?

“I think this guy could have done better though.

“‘Tacky’ isn’t exactly the most inventive insult when referring to leopard print is it?

“And I’ve heard more Kat Slater/Bet Lynch/ Carol Baskin jokes than I can count!”

Laura added that she knew that the carpet would be “divisive” when they chose it, but joked “a little bit of tack never hurt anyone”.

“Fifty per cent of my wardrobe is questionable, so why not carry that through to my home?!” she concluded.

“I like to be cohesive!”

People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “I’ve got a leopard doormat, a man came to the door the other day and said ‘I thought this was going to be Joe Exotics’s house’!”

“Sooooo tacky that I did it in my own home!!” another laughed.

“Thanks for the ‘tacky’ inspiration!!”

“I’ve got the same carpet so let’s be tacky together lol!” a third commented.

“I’d love to see his, I bet it’s beige, safe,

“Everyone to their own but don’t comment if it’s not your bag – it’s called having your own style.

“How boring life would be if we all chose the same things!

“It’s fab!”

“What sort of person would think it was ok to write down an awful comment and be happy with themselves!?” someone else wondered.

“You stay fabulous!”

“Tacky! The audacity! xx it’s my dream carpet,”another admitted.

“It’s absolutely incredible, you are THE most stylish person,” someone else gushed.

“How dare they!”

“Tacky is fun in my mind!” another insisted.

“I really don’t think it’s as insulting as they maybe hoped ha ha!

“Keep doing you babes (I know you will!)”
