The tip was revealed by motor expert chequanxiaoqiao in a clip on TikTok.

The switch inside the boot allows someone to open the boot door from the inside.

It’s a perfect hack for if you’re ever stuck inside your car and unable open the passenger doors or windows.

Chequanxiaoqiao says in the clip if motorists can’t get out of the car “don’t panic”.

Instead, you should pull down the back seat, crawl into the boot, uncover the switch and then press it.

The button looks different in each type of car, but it should have a symbol of a car with an open boot on it.

One film-like scenario where someone might need to escape out of the car boot is if the motor was partially submerged in water.

Some cars will also have a level to open the boot at the front of the car in the driver’s footwell where the petrol tank opener also is.

Fans of the tips commented on the post thanking chequanxiaoqiao for her help.

Drivers warned they could be fined £100 for a messy car

Leaving your car in a real state could see you facing a hefty fine.

Drivers who let their motor become a bit of a pigsty can jeopardise safety for anyone travelling in the car – and also result in paying a £100 penalty.

While there is no fine specifically for having a messy interior, too much litter could fall under the careless driving rule.

If found to be driving without due care and attention, police can issue on-the-spot fines of £100 and three penalty points.
