The hack was posted to TikTok by chequanxiaoqiao as part of a series of tips that many people don’t know.
She says it comes particularly of use when the dashboard screen freezes or lags.
It can also cost hundreds and take hours to repair at a garage.
Modern cars use the screen in the central console for all sorts of functions that once were controlled by switches or dials.
These functions include changing the climate control, playing music, or even looking through the reverse camera.
She says in the clip: “Look, after using the screen for a long time it will become stuck or even freeze.
“Don’t rush to the repair shop.
“Press and hold the menu key and the power key at the same time and keep them pressed.
“The screen will be forced to restart. After restarting the screen is as smooth as a new car.”
Fans of the tips commented on the post thanking chequanxiaoqiao for her help.
One said: “4 years owning the same car and I never knew these secrets!”
Another said: “Why I’m I learning this now.”
While a third said: “Very good.”
Chequanxiaoqiao also reveals in the clip how motorists can stop their car if the breaks fail, escape if they are locked inside, open the door if the remote key fails, and how to stick the key next to the steering wheel.
Another motor expert has also revealed what to do if your breaks fail.
TikToker Tong showed viewers how to apply the electronic parking brake while driving.
If your brake pedal stops working, simply pull up and hold the switch until you come to a halt.
Another motor expert has also revealed a secret button that some cars have that unlocks a hidden compartment.
In a clip he pushes a button on the roof of the vehicle and as if by magic the arm rest retracts to unveil a hidden storage tray.
