Hundreds of people watched in silence as photos of a smiling Jesse Baird and Luke Davies were shown on a large screen at a park in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
People sat in groups on the grass as music, including Shania Twain’s You’re Still The One and Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over, boomed across Darlinghurst’s Green Park.
Many wore rainbow colours and held pride flags, while others carried candles and brought flowers.
It’s been 10 days since police allege the pair were murdered by Senior Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon.
On Tuesday, two bodies were found at a rural property near Goulburn, with Senior Constable Lamarre-Condon charged with two counts of murder.
Among those who came to remember the two young men were Mr Baird’s former workmates from Network Ten, where he was employed until late last year.
And Mr Davies’s colleagues from Qantas where he worked as a flight attendant. Some people were wearing Virgin Airline T-shirts.
Attendees were encouraged to leave notes in books of condolence, which organisers said would be given to the families of the two men.
The line of people waiting to sign extended outside of the park.
Many held each other and cried in the silence that followed the last song.
The NSW Minister for Police Yasmin Catley, Sydney’s Lord Mayor Clover Moore and independent MP Alex Greenwich were among the politicians in attendance.
All three signed the book of condolence.
