Toney ‘absolutely’ fits United style

Manchester United strike legend Andy Cole claims Arsenal and Chelsea target Ivan Toney “absolutely” fits the Red Devils’ needs.

Cole also reckons the Brentford forward, 27, could help develop United’s 21-year-old  Rasmus Hojlund.

The former Newcastle hero told The Winners Enclosure: “I like Ivan and if he came to Manchester United, would he do a job? Absolutely he would.

“Rasmus Hojlund is still a young man, so it’s all down to whether the club is prepared to bring in an older striker that can help him out at this stage.

“Manchester United’s signings of experienced forwards in recent times hasn’t exactly worked out.

“It all depends on what the transfer fee will be but for me personally, I believe Ivan would be a good signing for Manchester United if they make a move for him and he will definitely help Hojlund.”

Tomiyasu & Zinchenko fitness boost

Arsenal defenders Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko are approaching comebacks following injury.

Both could return for Monday’s Prem visit to Sheffield United, according to the Daily Mail.

Toney backed to join Gunners over Spurs

Ivan Toney has been tipped to choose Arsenal over Tottenham.

Chelsea have also been linked with the one-cap England striker, who Brentford reportedly rate at upwards of £70million.

But ex-England frontman Michael Owen believes the Gunners would be the most attractive proposition.

The former Liverpool and Manchester United star told  Premier League Productions: “It’s an expensive risk because he isn’t going to be cheap.

“But to put someone, let’s say Arsenal, who everybody is saying needs a centre-forward, to have him at the club and not to start him. What’s he going to cost? £60, 70 or 80 million?

“He’s a starter really. He is going to have to start. Paying that money, you have to start him.

“I like him, don’t get me wrong. He can obviously score goals.

“He is very different. Not many would like to mark him. He has got a lot of different attributes.

“He’s not a target man that a lot of people would describe him as. He can bring people into play. He has a lot more to his game than just winning flick-ons.”

Meanwhile, the Gunners have been keen on Luiz for two years.

His Villa side sit fourth in the Prem – one place below Arsenal and two above United.

Donyell has ‘beautiful dream’ of Prem move

He told Voetbal Zone: “I think because I played in England as a youth and then it is a dream to play in the Premier League, then I think that is a beautiful dream

“I went to Arsenal so yes, them. I want Arsenal, my favourite club. Yes [about returning there]. I played there in my youth, I really wanted to break through there so yes.

“Every now and then in a football career there are points at which you just have to make a decision.

“Yes, I was training with the first team, and I was 17, 18 at the time and I did make steps in the optics, but I thought yes, I have to just play professional football.

“I also saw my teammates playing professional football while I was still playing youth football and I just knew (leaving) was the right thing to do.”

Utd target Malen eyes Gunners’ return

Manchester United and Liverpool have been linked with Donyell Malen – but the Borussia Dortmund striker dreams of rejoining Arsenal.

The 28-cap Dutchman, 25, was with Ajax and then the Gunners as a kid before joining PSV in 2018.

He moved on to Dortmund three years later but it’s claimed the Bundesliga giants Dortmund could be willing to sell him in the summer to raise much-needed funds.

So far this term Malen has bagged 12 goals and three assists in 30 games.
