TOP bosses are ready to push for managers to  be treated the same as players — and only move clubs during transfer windows.

Some experienced Premier League chiefs want the League Managers Association to lobby for a change in rules on when sackings can be made.

Many feel that dismissals are too easy for clubs and believe it would be better if they could only be axed in the summer or in January.

One leading gaffer said: “Players have contracts and rules that mean they are not moved outside of the windows. It should be the same for us.”

The LMA has seen several members come and go this season as clubs find it simpler to ditch the man in the dugout, instead of failing players.

And while the EFL sees the biggest turnover, the Prem’s top guns could also join the fight.

The number of sackings this year in the Premier League has been uncharacteristically few so far.

Last year saw 14 sackings, including the likes of Antonio Conte, Thomas Tuchel and Patrick Vieira.

But this season we have seen just four managers either get the chop or leave by mutual consent.

Julen Lopetegui left on the eve of the season and was replaced by Gary O’Neil, who has been a roaring success for the Old Gold so far.

Since then there have been few changes, with Paul Heckingbottom being the first to lose his job at Sheffield United.

Steve Cooper followed, despite having the loyalties of the Nottingham Forest faithful – with Nuno Esperito Santo replacing him.

Roy Hodgson taken ill during Crystal Palace training with press conference cancelled

And most recently Roy Hodgson agreed to step down as Crystal Palace manager due to his health issues – although the club were already readying themselves for the arrival of Oliver Glasner before that.

Jurgen Klopp could be leading the way by announcing his departure for the summer – should transfer window departures become the norm in the game.
