Forson, 19, has been called upon by manager Erik ten Hag due to the club’s current injury crisis.

Rasmus Hojlund suffered a setback in training and has been left out of the matchday squad.

The striker is expected to miss the next two to three weeks with a muscle injury.

And his absence will have played a big part in the full debut for Forson this afternoon.

However the youngster’s start comes at the cost of a place in the XI for Amad Diallo, who has only featured once in the league this season.

The forward’s sole appearance came in the 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest in December.

He makes Ten Hag’s bench for the Premier League bout, but wasn’t able to earn himself a starting spot.

Fans have reacted to his snub and suggested that he would be better off away from Manchester United.

Diallo missed the first few months of the season due to injury.

He has been on the bench for the previous three matches but was not called on by Ten Hag.

Forson has also made two appearances in the FA Cup.
