The Woolpack landlady – who is played by actress Emma Atkins in the ITV soap – has been struggling with PTSD after killing gangster Harry at Christmas to save husband Mack’s life.
However last night a terrified Charity stabbed Mack while suffering from a hallucination of Hary attacking her at home.
He was rushed to hospital in a coma while Charity was arrested.
But as Mack woke up from his coma in the hospital, Charity was still struggling to form words with the police.
As they questioned her on how Harry – otherwise known as Damon Harris – was in the cottage despite dying at Christmas, at Charity’s hand no less, Charity seemed to realise what she’d done.
“I stabbed him,” she said.
“I was trying to protect myself, I didn’t want him to hurt me.”
She added: “But now I know… when I came round, I had the knife, I was holding the knife and he was just laying there bleeding.”
As the detective demanded to know who, Charity said: “Mack, my husband.
“It was Mack, it was Mack.”
Falling apart again Charity made a shocking demand of the police – one that could see her locked up.
“Moira’s right, I destroy everything,” she said to the confused officer.
“You need to charge me. Please, I almost killed him.”
