Kirsty Lou joked that she’s even jealous of her 15-year-old daughter’s bedroom, which is complete with a fridge, desk with a view and double bed.
Taking to TikTok, the small business owner wanted to show “just how much you can put into a tiny room”.
Her teenage daughter has the smallest room in the family house, but Kirsty didn’t want that to mean sacrifice.
“She has the smallest room in the house and being the eldest, it’s important for her to have the space that she can retreat to, work from and relax in,” she explained.
“Do you know how hard that is to fit all these things into a space that’s so small?
“I think we have achieved it, though.
“I’m so happy that we can give her this space, just for her.”
An IKEA Kallax shelving unit worth £115 came in clutch for the room design as it gives the teen somewhere to store things.
Next to it, Kirsty installed a desk that she said “has the best view in the house” because it’s overlooking the garden and a field.
To squeeze a double bed into the small room, a cubby hole was created by Kirsty and her husband to fit a mattress in.
The bed sits closer to the floor than a traditional one as the parents built one specifically for the cubby hole.
Above the teen’s bed is her sister’s bed, which is in an entirely different room after Kirsty moulded the bedrooms into one another so that each of the girls had more space.
“Her bed is half in her room, half in her sisters,” Kirsty explained in the comments.
“Before we built her bed, she had a single bed and a wardrobe in there and that was it.
“It’s laid out so much better now.”
But that’s not even the quirkiest part of the room – the teen even has her own fridge stocked with her favourite snacks and drinks.
“I would have loved a room like this when I was a kid,” Lisa Young commented on Kirsty’s video.
“Amazing job!”
“No one would ever see me again,” another viewer joked.
“I’d become one with the room.”
