However, the star, 52, was nowhere to be seen as the programme kicked off this morning.

It comes amid a string of hosting shake-ups with many of the show’s core cast failing to appear on screens as usual.

Instead, she was replaced by Nina Warhurst who has been forced to cover for her co-stars on many occasions over recent weeks.

Nina caught viewers eyes by opting to wear a dazzling patterned dress that was hard to miss.

With a base colour of black, the outfit featured a striking yellow design emblazoned throughout as she sat alongside Jon to bring Britain up to date with the headlines.

However, many fans were left calling out the star for her car crash interview with Secretary of State for Education, Gillian Keegan.

They were left seething with Nina as they insisted she failed to question the politician properly.

Gillian was discussing whether potentially banning mobile hones in school was the correct thing to do in order to improve children’s education and focus in schools.

Whist the topic of debate sparked a lot of conversation on X – formerly Twitter – itself, it was Nina’s questioning that fell the most flat with fans.

Writing online, one said: “Very poor interview by Nina Warhurst…. allowing smiley Gillian Keegan to waffle on, uninterrupted for minutes on end.”

Another then continued to slam the star as they wrote: “As nice as she seems, she’s way more suited to kids TV than a serious news programme.”

Before a third swiped: “Jeez Nina #bbcbreakfast just let inept. @GillianKeegan ramble for England without being taken to task.”

Nina’s latest on-air disaster comes just days after she was left cringing at another faux pas.

On Wednesday, she was in the BBC Breakfast studio to update viewers on UK inflation figures.

After Nina talked through how it is impacting Brits, she handed back to the main hosts, Sally Nugent and Ben Thompson.

But she was left cringing at herself as she said: “Now back to Jon and – Ben and Sally. Not Jon, sorry.”

Ben – who has been standing in for Jon Kay this week – chuckled and replied: “Don’t worry, I’ll let you off. Thanks Nina.”
