She was still reeling over the encounter.
“I swear to God one time I asked Taylor Lautner how do I know you did we go to high school together and he was like no b***h I was in Twilight and yet that is not my most embarrassing celebrity interaction,” said Eva Evans (@itsevaevans).
She admitted that she does not have strong facial recognition which has led to some mortifying mishaps.
Eva recalled her most high-profile encounter yet which occurred at her ex-boyfriend’s popular downtown New York City restaurant that’s often frequented by celebrity clientele.
It all started when her ex introduced her to a couple who were waiting for their table while she was sitting at the bar.
It didn’t take long for the woman to occupy the empty seat that was next to her.
“The guy and my ex start talking. They’re more friends anyway so I’m like let me make sure she feels at home,” she said.
Admitting that she loves to chat – especially after a couple of drinks – she didn’t hold back from starting a conversation.
She even asked the woman where her upcoming wedding was going to be taking place.
“She’s like in ‘England in the summer, I hope you guys can come’,” she mimicked in a British accent.
Eva even responded that she would love to come because she loves London.
She also inquired about the woman’s profession to which she replied that she was a singer.
“And I was like that is so cool but honestly I’m a filmmaker, the entertainment world is so difficult and singing feels particularly hard, how’s that going? She was like ‘pretty good’.”
She still had no clue just who she was speaking with.
“Next thing you know their table’s ready and as they’re going I say bye it was so nice to meet you Ellie.
“I go and sit down and as they’re walking away I suddenly – just it dawns on me – and I turned to my ex-boyfriend and I say was that Ellie Goulding?”
She might have been a little late to the recognition party but her partner at the time confirmed that she was indeed correct.
“And I think about this like bi-weekly. I really tried to be all from one starving artist to another to Ellie Goulding,” she said.
It was not lost on her that at the time the singer was one of the highest-grossing pop musicians in England.
Some of her fans thought the star might have even enjoyed the interaction.
“Honestly maybe she was happy that someone was talking to her like a real person,” said one follower.
Still others revealed their own embarrassing celebrity encounters.
“I asked Busta Rhymes if he could help me take my heels off because my nails were too long,” said another viewer.
“This is my favorite one lmao,” she replied.
“When Leonardo DiCaprio introduced himself to me I laughed in his face and said Leonardo isn’t fat! Who are you actually? I think about this daily,” said another watcher.
Goulding first rose to fame in 2009 with her hit single ‘Under the Sheets.”
