A strong first-half performance from Gloucester was just enough as they held off Exeter’s spirited comeback to reach the Premiership Rugby Cup final.

Zach Mercer set up Lewis Ludlow for the Cherry and Whites’ opening try and Max Llewellyn crossed soon after.

Winger Josh Hathaway added a third to put the hosts 17-0 up at the break.

Improved Exeter replied in the second half through Jacques Vermeulen and Ross Vintcent to make it 17-14 in the last 10 minutes, but Gloucester held on.
