A man has been arrested in Adelaide’s south-west after he was allegedly found hiding in a wheelie bin while in possession of ice pipes.
SA Police said a resident on Pildappa Avenue at Park Holme called officers after noticing someone acting suspiciously near cars in the street just after 1:30am.
Officers said the resident was able to provide a description of the man who was riding a pushbike.
Police said when patrols arrived, they found the pushbike, saw the man running north on Bowaka Street and gave chase but eventually lost sight of him.
SA Police Senior Constable Kate Dawson said police dog Edge was called in to help find the man.
“Edge was searching along Cungie Avenue and he indicated a wheelie bin, but at the same time an owner also approached saying they thought someone’s in the bin,” she said.
Police allegedly found the 30-year-old man inside the bin in possession of a “small amount” of methamphetamine and two ice pipes.
He was arrested and charged with being unlawfully on premises and breach of bail.
He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court.
