Kate Garraway breaks her silence as best pal and GMB co-host Ben Shephard quits show for This Morning gig

KATE Garraway has broken her silence after her best pal and GMB co-host Ben Shephard was announced as the new This Morning host.

Ben will leave the breakfast show he has fronted with Kate for ten years and will take over its sister show with fellow new host Cat Deeley.

Kate and Ben are very close and fronted the show together on Thursday and Fridays.

He has been a huge support to her throughout her husband Derek Draper’s health battle, as well as his tragic death last month.

Now Kate has spoken for the first time about how she feels about Ben moving on to a new job.

Taking to her instagram, she wrote: “Massive congrats to @benshephardofficial on the @itv @thismorning gig.

“You’ll be SOOOOO missed by EVERYONE @gmb viewers and the team alike & ofcourse especially me. BUT after 24 years hard labour by my side no one will begrudge you time off for good behaviour!!!

“Good luck swapping early starts for (abit) of a lie in and a Kate for a Cat! @catdeeley can’t wait to see you – you’ll have a ball.”
