A 31-year old Sunshine Coast man is facing dozens of charges, including rape and using children to create exploitation material, that stretch back almost four years.

Dion Adam Lingard faced Maroochydore Magistrates Court twice this week — first on Monday for eight charges over alleged offences earlier this month, including rape, supplying drugs to a minor and illegally filming a girl as she slept.

At his second appearance on Wednesday the court heard details of another 15 offences, almost all of which related to using children to make exploitation material since mid-2020.

Mr Lingard was arrested earlier this month following an investigation by the Sunshine Coast Child Abuse Investigation Unit.

Court documents show his bail was refused due to the “very serious allegations”.

In refusing his release, the document suggested there was “strong evidence of multiple victims over several years”, and “an unacceptable risk of reoffending”.

Charge sheets held by the courts showed the most recent child abuse offences allegedly occurred at his home outside Nambour.

Police allege the rape occurred at the property, which was also the site where he is accused of illegally giving cannabis to someone under 16.

Mr Lingard has also been charged with multiple driving offences.

The matter is due to return to court on April 19.
