Occasional Digest - a story for you

WE’VE spotted a great deal for Apple fans that will bag them a top-selling mobile without emptying their wallets.

Mobiles.co.uk currently has a deal on the Apple iPhone 14, offering it with 100GB of data for just £29.99 per month on the iD Mobile network, with no upfront cost.

Although it may no longer hold the title of the flagship (that honour now belongs to the iPhone 15), it still stands strong within both the Apple ecosystem and beyond.

Now, with this iD Mobile network deal, you can grab it for just £29.99 per month with 100GB of data – more than enough to see you through.

Better still, there’s no upfront payment, making this an excellent price for a handset that is still a fabulous piece of tech.

It’s little surprise then that Mobiles.co.uk has labelled this as a top-seller on its website, and it’s easy to see why.

Of course, having only come off the production line in 2022, it remains a visually stunning device, with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display and aerospace-grade aluminium design.

This model features the A15 Bionic chip, a powerhouse despite being a generation old, delivering a swift 60Hz refresh rate.

It’s also one for photography lovers, with a 12MP TrueDepth dual camera system and a 12MP selfie camera, you’ll no doubt earn yourself some impressive shots.

Apple also claims the iPhone 14 boasts an all-day battery, though it’s wise not to put too much weight on such claims as actual performance may vary.

Our tech editor Sean Keach tested the handset on its release and gave his expert verdict in his iPhone 14 review, ultimately finding it to be a ‘high-end machine.’

But don’t just take our word for it, users have given this a 4.33-out-of-5 star rating on the Mobiles.co.uk website and left glowing reviews.

One user admitted: ‘I have been on Android for the past ten years and my return to iPhone is an experiment.’

The same buyer praised the camera as a ‘stellar feature’, adding: ‘The results are stunning. The screen is sharp and bright. Phone calls are loud and clear.’

Another wrote: ‘The phone has very fast download speeds, it looks very good, the front and back camera quality is incredible.’

But how does the iPhone 14 stack up against the rest of the Apple ranks?

A quick comparison of contracts on Mobiles.co.uk reveals that the iPhone 13 offers similar features, with a lower monthly cost, while Apple’s latest flagship boasts additional enhancements but commands a premium price.

For those with a little more cash to spend, you can pick up the iPhone 15 with 100GB of monthly data for £29.99, but a pricy £79.99 to pay upfront.

While budget-conscious shoppers can pick up the iPhone 13 with 100GB of data for just £25.99 per month and £19 to pay upfront.

Don’t let this throw a spanner in the works though, as I have covered both in my iPhone 14 vs iPhone 15 and iPhone 13 vs iPhone 14 comparisons.

On the whole, if you’ve got the money to spend, the iPhone 15 is the best of the bunch, but for a comparable experience on a tighter budget, the iPhone 14 is the way to go.

Another great phone deal we spotted this week is one for Google lovers, getting them the £449 Android smartphone reduced to £329.
