However, entrepreneur Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 53, insists it is true love between him and partner Scott, 30, despite buying him a £3.5million car for Valentines Day.
Barrie, who starred on Channel 5’s Rich House Poor House, made his money with ex husband Tony from a trans-Atlantic surrogacy business and a global medical research company.
However, after splitting with Tony, a few years ago, Barrie confirmed he had fallen for daughter Saffron’s ex Scott.
They are now engaged, and share kids Valentina, three, and one-year-old Romeo, who arrived via surrogate.
Speaking to Fabulous, Barrie said: “I always loved Tony, but I’m in love with Scott and regardless of what all these people say to me or online about him only being with me for the money, I know he loves me.
“This year we are going to head back to Malibu where we spent our very first vacation together.”
And Barrie certainly hasn’t held back when it has come to his Valentine’s Day gifts for Scott.
He claimed: “Scott already has five cars that I have bought him, but I know he really wanted the Bugatti Divo so I bought it for him three weeks ago from a dealer in Miami for $5.7million (£4.5million).
“It will be waiting at the house for him when we get home.
“I’m so excited to see his face.
“I also bought him a $275,000 (£218,490) Harry Winston diamond ring to show him how much I love him and something he can wear all the time.”
And Scott has also returned the favour with his own gifts, and is set to give his partner “a matching 20 carat diamond ring to match it.”
While the presents are undeniably extravagant, Barrie hopes to have a wholesome day with Scott.
He continued: “We are going to take our two beautiful children and just walk the beach with them and the dog.
“We have been super busy with our businesses and we need a break.”
Barrie’s daughter Saffron revealed it can be awkward with her ex dating her dad, particularly when Scott talks about their sex life.
This follows lavish Barrie revealing he had limited his Christmas spending to an eye-watering £2.8million – but was buying his toddler a flat.

Barrie and ex-husband Tony made history in 1999 when they became the first British same-sex couple to be legally recognised as parents, after welcoming twins Saffron and Aspen, 24, through surrogacy.
They went on to have son Orlando, followed by twins Jasper and Dallas.
Barrie also has son Colin, who is now in his thirties, from a previous relationship.
Barrie previously revealed he was starting a sex toy company with the struggling single mum from his Rich House Poor House episode and was investing £500,000 in their venture.
On the show, Ocean Chapman, 29, and nine-year-old daughter Oziana swapped lives for a week with Manchester-born Barrie, who is worth nearly £200m.
Following the Channel 5 show, Barrie pledged to help Ocean not only leave her Essex council flat but to “become a millionaire” herself through a new business venture.
Barrie said of the progress: “March will be the launch date, but we literally have orders in already.
“All our toys are made and ready to go out.
“We were hoping to launch for Valentines day but we were not happy with the packaging post production so we have redesigned the boxes etc and that has pushed back the launch date by a month.
“I love this business, giving pleasure to so many people around the world and also helping them bring a little bit of sparkle back to their relationships.”
