The Scot, 53, was in action at the Players Championship 2 in Wigan yesterday.
He stormed through the field, defeating Daniel Klose, Adam Gawlas, Daryl Gurney, Andy Baetens, Raymond van Barneveld and Peter Wright on the way to the final.
Anderson faced pal Ryan Searle for the title, and raced into a two-leg lead.
Searle, 36, came back at the Flying Scotsman, taking the next three legs.
The pair exchanged further legs, with Anderson eventually going into a 7-5 lead.
He then had a chance to clinch the title on a nine-darter – only to miss a double 12.
Anderson responded by slapping his hands together before crying: “Son of a gun!”
Even Searle, on the cusp of defeat, couldn’t help but smile.
His opponent then dusted himself down to finish the contest on a ten-darter.
