One cleaning whizz has come up with an amazing hack though, which will leave your bathroom smelling fresh for weeks – and it costs less than 2p.

Whilst it might be one of the least pleasant chores around the house, it seems that Brits are very diligent when it comes to keep the bathroom clean.

In fact, a 2023 study by Plumbworld found that a staggering 79 per cent of UK homeowners will clean the space at least once a week and nearly one quarter will give it a spritz it daily!

The bathroom parts retailer also revealed that women are more likely to get scrubbing than men, with 84 per cent stating that they clean the bathroom at least once a week.

With all those hours spent bleaching and spraying anti-bac, it’s no wonder that so many of us are looking for time saving cleaning hacks.

Thankfully, one woman has shared a nifty tip which she claims will leave your bathroom smelling heavenly for weeks at a time.

Like many life hacks, this nifty tip was originally shared on Tiktok and was originally uploaded by Donna Mendoza, aka The Cleaning Lady.

Rather than purchasing expensive products, this savvy influencer uses a common household item that is already in her cupboard: a laundry capsule.

As shown in the short clip, she will take a pod and gently mix it with some warm water to help it break down.

She will then use a fork to break up the capsule further before pouring the mixture into her toilet brush holder (yes, it really is that simple).

Even better, any excess that is left over can be poured into the toilet, helping to keep it clean and boost the scent around your bathroom.

In the caption, Donna claimed that she used this hack as it: “…Keeps your bathroom smelling fresh for weeks”.  

It’s hardly surprising as the laundry capsules will break down the grime left behind in your bathroom, just as it would with your clothes.

You can even create an antibacterial version as some detergents will have added ingredients that kills germs – saving you another cleaning task.

However, there is another reason why we are obsessed with this hack: the cost.

With Tesco currently stocking a packet of 51 Fairy liquid pods for £12, it means that you’d spend as little as 2p on the hack (based on the price per capsule).

It wasn’t the only cleaning hack that Donna for a great smelling house, as the content creator also shared how she made a ‘sink brew’ to help refresh her home.

Mixing a cap full of multi-surface cleaner, scented dish soap and warm water, the influencer will use the concoction to scrub down her doors.  

She told fans: “One of my favourites…Never have lingering oders. Always smells nice and clean.”

Seems like we got no excuse not to have a sensational smelling home now.
