Katie (@kt_forch) revealed her trick in a video with her TikTok followers.

The mom explained that she had to get creative with heating her house and her child’s room.

“I wanted to show you an easy way to help keep your rooms warmer this winter and to reduce your heating costs,” she said.

She got a pellet stove for the winter but explained that her son’s room still was cold because it was the furthest from the stove.

“This really helps keep the draft out,” she said, revealing that she simply picked up a $15 tool from Walmart.

Her husband applied double-sided tape from the kit around the edges of a window.

He made sure to cover all four sides of the window perimeter.

Next, he applied shrink film over the window to prevent cold drafts from leaking in.

“Everyone is trying to budget this year (and every year) and a quick and easy way to do that is to use a window kit!” she wrote.

The simple fix was enough to keep heat in, helping to save money and reduce the use of gas.

“It keeps his room much warmer by reducing the draft, and keeping the warm air in!” she said.

“Propane is so expensive, and we try to limit how much we have to turn it on.”
