Actor Ben Tavassoli, known for playing Louis in the show, appeared to insinuate that the show had come to an end in an Instagram post.

Sharing the show’s promotional posted, Ben wrote: “Unfortunate news that this is where our journey ends for Screw.

“Want to thank you guys so much for tuning in. All your kind words went a long way.

“Love everyone who was part of the show, very lucky to have made dear friends for life.”

The show co-starred Derry Girls legend Jamie-Lee O’Donnell as well as Nina Sosanya and first aired in January 2022.

The programme dealt with life for prison officers working in Long Marsh Prison.

It saw how they interacted with prisoners, dealt with a gun smuggling operation as well as trying to work out who on their wing was an undercover police officer.

Reacting with sadness to the news, Ben’s post was littered with comments from adoring fans who had hoped that another edition of the programme could be created.

One fan wrote: “Loved this show! Gutted!”

Another added: “Ahhh no, really thought there would have been another season, pity, but was brilliant.”

A third went on to say: “What! Nooooo! Loved the show.”

Before a fourth penned: “What??? That’s such a shame as the show was so good and had at least 2 or 3 series left 🙁 Maybe another tv station will pick it up.”

The comments continued to flood in as many expressed their shock and surprise at the show being brought to an end.

Fellow actor Luke Pasqualino sent his support to the star as he said of his performance in the show: “Smashed it brev!”

Faraz Ayub, Laura Checkley, Stephen Wight and Jack McMullen all co-starred in the programme.
