One person who certainly won’t say no to popping into second-hand stores is mum Francesca Ramsden, who’s found Louis Vuitton and Chanel bags for less than £5 – saving more than £20k.
The stylish fashionista, who calls herself Your Online Thrifting Bestie, regularly shares her favourite finds on TikTok, where her page has amassed over a whopping 120k followers.
Now, the 33-year-old mum, from the UK, has delighted her fans with yet another successful visit to what claimed to be ”the world’s cheapest charity shop”.
According to the thrifting enthusiast, Age UK charity shop – which has a number of locations across the country – offers some incredible deals on the cheap, including wardrobe essentials for spare change.
As on the day of the visit the store was doing a half-price sale, Francesca stumbled across a number of fabulous budget-friendly items, including Pretty Little Thing jeans for 50p.
Other items that she spotted whilst browsing the aisles included an adorable giant dollhouse for £1.50, kids’ tops for 25p and even some designer gear, such as a Kenzo T-shirt for a mere 50p – and these usually retail for around £100 depending on the design.
Francesca, who was on a mission to find ”staples” for her wardrobe, also found a chic COS shirt for 50p and even something for her daughter – an adorable pink dress for her birthday.
Age UK has more than 200 stores across the nation and you can find the nearest branch here – the mum had spotted the bargains in the Burnley-based store.
Dozens of social media users raced to comments under the video, where one said: ”I love that shop, they always sell things really cheap compared to other shops, some are really expensive.”
Another chimed in: ”Always find nice stuff in here, just never in my size.”
Someone else penned: ”Ones near me are so expensive, £30 for a Sylvanian house with pen on and no accessories.”
”You’d have heart attack if you came to the charity shops in the midlands, they won’t even give you a carrier for less than 50p,” a fourth added.
The mum-of-two prides herself on having a wardrobe that’s 99% second-handed and the majority of her children’s clothes are also pre-loved.
Francesca said that the key to grabbing a bargain is to go to the charity shops as much as possible, as well as scanning for “stashed” items in the children and menswear areas and fix up broken garments.
For the cheapest deals, the thrifting whizz advised to go to towns and cities in the North and to also check out the less affluent areas for better deals.
“Thrifting is life – I absolutely love it.
“It haunts me the thought of when I’m older and when I die, my children have to live in this world – with all the things that are thrown away and all the pollution.
“I got a Chanel bag for £1 from Cancer Research in Rawtenstall and a Louis Vuitton bag for £3.50 a few months ago from a recycling centre in Manchester.
“I go into the shop with a clear vision of what I want and manifest what I want.
“I think I’ve saved about £20k buying second-hand and I’ve been to Rome and Lanzarote on family holidays last year because of money I’ve saved.”
