The transfer window slams shut this afternoon as a host of clubs across the continent look to make last-minute additions.
But, despite their struggles this term, the Red Devils allegedly have zero interest in the French hotshot.
The 21-year-old has been strongly linked with a switch to German side Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, fussball.news says that PSG contacted United and several others to offer them the opportunity of a deal on their forward.
The tactic seems to have been a ploy from the Ligue 1 champions to try and bolster Ekitike’s fee, but the English team were not willing to play ball and swiftly snubbed the proposal.
Frankfurt do not want to pay more than £17m for him, but PSG are demanding at least £25.5m for the man who is desperate to leave Parc des Princes for more game time.
Ekitike initially moved to PSG on loan from Reims in the summer of 2022 after rejecting the chance to sign for Newcastle in the Premier League.
Reims had agreed a £33m fee with the Magpies on deadline day two years ago but the transfer fell through as Ekitike waited on a meeting with PSG advisor Luis Campos.
Explaining what happened previously, Ekitike said: “I had an appointment with Luis (Campos) which meant a lot for me.
“It was not so long ago. We talked a lot, he is someone I consider enormously.
“I wanted to come to PSG before this exchange but it convinced me even more.
“I don’t put aside everything Newcastle did to get me to come. If I had to go abroad, I would have gone there. But when PSG wants you and you’re French, you can’t refuse.”
However, the dream move has turned into a nightmare as he has scored just three goals in 26 top-flight appearances and has been left out in the wilderness this term.
Ekitike was one of several PSG players “banished” to train away from the rest of the squad back in August – a group which also included Kylian Mbappe.
And things have failed to get any better as the attacker has seen just nine minutes of action this term, with his only outing coming off the bench back in mid-August.
Now he will be desperate that PSG and Frankfurt can find an agreement so that he can try to reignite his career in Germany.
