Vanessa Sagnay de la Bastida, who was known as Charlotte, died following the horror in Wandsworth, South London.
Octavian Cadar, 38, appeared at the Old Bailey today over the 27-year-old psychology graduate’s death.
Members of Charlotte’s family, including fiance Michael Williams who witnessed the fatal crash, were present in court.
Cader pleaded not to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
He was released on unconditional bail ahead of a five-day trial set for July 29.
Charlotte was the daughter of Ecuadorian politician Carlos Sagnay de la Bastida.
The tragedy unfolded on March 16, 2022, on Wandsworth Bridge as the graduate crossed the road.
Charlotte, who was employed by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust as a research assistant, sadly couldn’t be saved and was declared dead shortly after.
Her friend Kristina Smirnoffa paid tribute following the horror, saying: “Charlotte was everything, a loving fiancé to Michael, a caring friend, a kind daughter, a hard worker, a fantastic cheerleader.
“Charlotte was the main character in most of our lives. Charlotte lit up every room she walked into.
“She was a true princess and a fighter. She was beautiful inside and out…for the way she thought…for the way her eyes sparkled…for the way she lifted others up around her.
“She was taken from us so soon, so suddenly, without a goodbye. Charlotte will be missed dearly.”
