TikToker Orim (@Orim) loves to share her health and beauty tips.

In one video, she allowed her mom to take center stage and reveal her skincare plan.

Orim didn’t approve of her mom’s message.

“I do NOT do this but it somehow works SO WELL for my mom, she wanted to share,” she wrote as the caption.

Her mom, however, said she’s been doing this routine for her “whole life.”

“Okay, so I’m gonna show you my skincare secret that is deeply frowned upon that I’ve been doing for basically my whole life,” she said.

“I have been cleaning my face every night with rubbing alcohol, like 70% rubbing alcohol,” she said.

She rubs her face with a rubbing alcohol-drenched pad. She also uses it behind her ears, neck, chest, and back.

She then turned around the pad, to show the residue it picked up.

Her final step is to put avocado oil on her face before she goes to bed.

“That’s my skincare secret,” she said. “It’s really cheap too.”

Alcohol pads were the first line of defense against acne in the 2000s, but do they work?

According to Healthline, there are better ways to fight breakouts.

“Rubbing alcohol is just one potential acne-fighting ingredient,” the publication wrote.

“Still, there’s not enough evidence about the efficacy or safety of this product,” Healthline said.

“Proven ingredients” to dry pimples are things like benzoyl peroxide and Salicylic acid.

“This is a more preferable treatment for blackheads and whiteheads,” Healthline reported.

In the comments section, Orim said her mom’s method was outdated.

“Naw this is crazy,” the follower wrote.

“Agreed,” Orim responded.

“The way my sensitive skin would simple burst into flames,” a second said.

“It would dry my skin out so fast,” Orim answered.

“I mean her skin looks good so whatever works,” a third added.

“That’s what I’m saying. Her skin is better than mine. It’s ALWAYS clear. Also she never has dark circles I’m so jealous lol,” Orim wrote back.
