On day 12, Aryna Sabalenka had defeated Coco Gauff to win her women’s singles semifinal when she had the post-match interview with former Australian star Jelena Dokic, who returned after years away from tennis to speak about the torment her father put her through growing up.
Dokic is a favourite for her smart, personal interviews with players.
During one of her most recent post-match chats with Sabalenka she joked the defending champion was taking too many towels and had to give Dokic at least one.
After the semi-final she joked about giving it back, but Sabalenka gave her another one as well. Dokic later announced she would have both towels signed by Sabalenka and auctioned to raise money for survivors of domestic violence.
