She warned viewers that the technique was prematurely aging them.
Isabelle (@isabelle.lux) shared the beauty tip in a video with over 560,000 TikTok followers.
“Unless you want to be prematurely aging yourself, I would seriously think twice before jumping into an ice bath or cold plunging,” she said.
“It actually has the opposite effect of what you think it is and just because everyone is doing it, does not mean you should.”
The influencer explained that she learned from skincare experiences in Asia that extreme temperatures only did the skin more harm than good.
“Extreme cold therapies can create a ton of stress on your kidneys which can really accelerate cellular aging,” she said.
“Plus they can impact your proper thyroid function. Female hormones especially can be accelerated by them and they can force your adrenal glands to get seriously overworked.”
As an alternative, she opted for a safer and more scientifically-backed method.
“If you are looking to burn a bunch of calories quickly or jumpstart your metabolism, I would recommend cryotherapy instead,” she said.

“It doesn’t have all those really negative impacts that cold plunges can.”
People had mixed opinions on her take on cold plunges and cryotherapy.
Some who were in favor of ice baths explained the benefits the treatment has offered them.
“I never heard that argument. Maybe it’s not great for anti-aging but it has had amazing benefits for my mental health,” said one commenter.
“I’ve been so much happier since I started. It raises dopamine levels.”
Some couldn’t be happier to hear the news.
“I am so on board with this viewpoint. In Europe, they don’t even drink cold water. I hate cold plunging will never do it,” said one ice-bath dissenter.
