Skupski, 34, will be in a mixed doubles final for a third time, while it will be 30-year-old Krawczyk’s fifth after she also won mixed doubles competitions at the French Open and US Open in 2021 alongside Britain’s Joe Salisbury.
“It would be nice to add to the collection, but it is one point at a time,” said Skupski. “It’s the first time in the final in Australia and Desirae is going for all four Grand Slams in her career.”
Hsieh, 38, is aiming for her first mixed doubles Grand Slam title having won six women’s doubles Slam events, including Wimbledon on four occasions, while Zielinski, 27, is trying to win his first Slam tournament.
Krawczyk and Harris are in a relationship and Krawczyk expected them to be on opposite sides of the court in the final.
“I thought I was going to be playing my boyfriend. Tough loss,” said Krawczyk when she found out who their opponents would be.
Skupski added: “It’s going to be very difficult. Zielinski likes playing in Australia and Hsieh is a legend of the game and she seems to just be getting better.
“She is very talented so we will have to do our homework.”
