Well, according to several fashion fans, that feeling is a distant memory…as many have been left horrified by the sudden hike in prices in the high-street store.
In a clip shared to TikTok (@charlie.paddy), a savvy shopper named Charlie could be seen visiting her local store in Manchester.
“I’m just in Primark at the moment and what in the actual Zara pricing is this?” she asks.
She then heads over to a stylish dark grey coat complete with lapels and pocket detail, which is made from 50% wool blend.
“So I just saw this coat and I was like, ‘oh that’s actually quite nice for Primark – that’s actually a half decent coat, I would wear that,’ she says.
“I look at the label – £60!”
The shocked shopper continues: “I’m sorry but does anyone else remember when Primark coats used to literally cost like £10?”
Charlie captioned the post: “Screaming, crying, throwing up. Who do @Primark think they are?!
“Actually in shock. Is it just me or is this outrageous?!!”
It wasn’t long before the post went viral, garnering thousands of likes and several comments, with many quick to agree with Charlie.
“What in the cost of living pricing is this!!! Primark you were supposed to be there to see us through the hard times, not put us in a hard time!” wrote one.
A second penned: “Over £25 in Primark is crazy.”
A third commented: “Primark has become so expensive that I will never shop there. Better off spending the extra bit of money to get way better quality elsewhere.”
Meanwhile, a fourth noted: “Primark isn’t Primarking anymore.”
Another added: “I spent £100 on two things in Primark this month.
A further pointed out: “I thought the same about the pyjamas this year, more expensive than M&S, Sainsbury’s etc it’s a joke.”
However, elsewhere, one Primark fan argued: “Yeah but coats that were £10 were dreadful! I think it’s worth the money for the material.”
Charlie replied: “I used to love my £20 Primark hauls – the material is defo better but I’d 100% rather pay that price somewhere else!”
Fabulous previously told how one shopper refused to visit Primark ever again due to the price hikes and the clothes not being a “vibe.”
Kersty, who took social media followers with her on a recent shopping trip, commented: “I’m not being funny, but for me, my Primark was not Primark-ing today.
“Yes, they have their fur leggings back in – and they’re £7. I’m sure they were £5 last year.”
She then stumbled upon the Stitch range and continued: “Stitch. Maybe I’m old, but what the hell? I would not wear them Converses.”
As for the Rita Ora range, she added: “[The] Rita Ora collection is still going strong, I couldn’t find anything I vibed with in my size.
“Boots are back and can’t lie, didn’t really like any of them apart from maybe this biker pair. Not sure what these suede ones are.
“More Rita Ora – yet again, not vibing with anything.
“And a white shirt – £16? No thank you. Not paying that.”
