Amazon shoppers rush to buy ‘simple, straightforward’ £59 HP printer reduced to £39

Occasional Digest - a story for you

AMAZON has reduced the cost of an HP all-in-one printer and it’s now the No. 1 best-seller on the site.

Shoppers have been dashing to buy from the HP DeskJet 2810e for £38.99, down from £54.99, which will scan, copy and print.

I spotted this wireless, budget-friendly device on Amazon’s best-selling printers list, where it’s currently sitting at the Number One spot.

Our guess is that a lot of shoppers out there are in need of a home printer, but only every now and again: it’s the sort of device you might tuck away in a cupboard rather than leaving out on your desk.

Regardless of usage, printers in the sub-£50 zone should be approached with caution: choosing a budget option is absolutely fine, but it’s wise to invest in one from a well-known brand reputable brands like HP.

This cheap-as-chips device prints at 7.5 black-and-white pages per minute, and 5.5 colour pages per minute – that’s nothing near the scale of big office machines but should be absolutely fine at home.

But the reason the HP 2810e has probably proved such a hit with Amazon shoppers – besides that 29% price drop – is that three-in-one functionality.

Having those two extra functions means you do things like scan and copy documents: perfect if you work from home (or just have some old photos you want to digitise).

Like nearly all printers, this can be remotely operated via a smartphone app – long gone are those days when you’d have to scrabble around linking up cables to your desktop computer.

It’s also swept up a 4.2-out-of-5 rating on the Amazon site, with lots of customers leaving positive reviews.

One buyer who left a five-star review wrote: ‘I was dreading setting up the new printer. But this one is a dream. A child could do it. My old Canon Pixma couldn’t cope with my new 2.4/5GHz hub and just wouldn’t connect, so I needed a simple, straightforward replacement.’

Another shopper comments: ‘If, like myself, you just need a printer for occasional printing and scanning at home this printer is ideal. Really easy to install, just follow online instructions [that] take you through it step-by-step.’

This isn’t the first great Amazon deal on our radar lately: earlier this week, tech deals report Rhys Melhado-Thompson also covered a 52% discount on a ‘seamless’ smart thermostat – great for reducing your energy bills during this chilly weather.
