Who is bowls commentator David Corkhill?

David Corkill is a former international lawn and indoor bowler and now works as a sports commentator.

He is from Belfast in Northern Ireland and was born on February 15, 1960.

He started bowling at an early age in Tullycarnet Park where he played for Gilnahirk.

Ever since he has been involved in the sport.

What titles has David Corkhill won in the past?

Corkill has managed to win multiple titles in the past.

He has got his hands on all sorts of titles such as singles, Under-25 singles, pairs, triples and fours.

Corkill joined the Knock outdoor club and won the Irish National Bowls Championships Fours title in 1977 before winning the singles title in 1980 and 1988.

He also won the singles at the British Isles Bowls Championships in 1981.

He went on to represent Northern Ireland at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and 1990 Commonwealth Games and the combined Irish team at the World Bowls Championships.

Corkill earned 108 caps for Ireland playing indoors.

He is currently the Chairperson of the Professional Bowls Association and was a Director for World Bowls from 2002-2006.

However, Corkill returned to the green in 2023 as he competed in the NI Private Greens League Championships.

After winning, he told the Belfast Telegraph: “It’s incredible to think that I won my first Championship (the Under-25 singles) back in 1983. In fact, most of my titles came back in the 80s.

“The pairs, singles and triples all followed that. It was only two years ago that I won the fours; Stuartie Bennett skipped the rink.

“But now the senior fours title has really completed the set for me, the icing on the cake, which I’m thrilled about.

“Of course, the senior fours is a relatively new discipline. It only started back in 2013, so it’s nice to have my name on it.”
