MANCHESTER UNITED fans hilariously called on the club to re-sign Bebe after his sensational free-kick at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The winger, 33, was an undeniable flop at Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson signed him for £7.4million in 2010.

He played just seven times during a four-year spell on the Red Devils’ books, scoring two goals.

The Cape Verde forward is widely considered to be one of Ferguson’s worst transfers during his 27 years at the helm.

But nearly a decade after leaving Man Utd, Bebe has now shown some of the quality Ferguson must have seen in him all those years ago.

The ex-Benfica man, who now plays for Rayo Vallecano, scored a goal of the tournament contender for Cape Verde during their Afcon clash with Mozambique.

Bebe stepped up to take a free-kick from what looked to be more than 40 yards out.

But with his team-mates waiting for a cross into the box, he instead decided to have a shot at goal.

And the clean strike caught Mozambique keeper Hernane Siluane napping as it flew beyond his dive and into the back of the net.

The astonishing strike immediately grabbed the attention of Man Utd supporters on social media.

The Red Devils faithful are watching their team struggle under Erik ten Hag as they sit seventh in the Premier League table, eight points adrift of the top four.

And some of their fans jokingly called for Man Utd to get Bebe back following his Afcon exploits.

One said: “Bebe, what a free kick. Man Utd heritage.”

Another replied: “This Bebe guy is actually unreal, I can really see him being a great signing for Man Utd.”

While a third added: “Man Utd should bring him back at this point.”

And a fourth said: “Bebe, that was filthy!”

Cape Verde beat Mozambique 3-0 to maintain their 100 per cent record in Group B.

In their opening match, they stunned Ghana with a stoppage-time winner to clinch a 2-1 victory.

After the game, Ghana boss Chris Hughton was reportedly attacked by a fan at his side’s team hotel.
