Police have released CCTV footage of two men they wish to speak to about a suspicious school fire in Geelong which caused an estimated $4 million in damage.

The fire destroyed a senior school building at Christian College Geelong in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Victoria Police said investigators were told two male offenders got to the Waurn Ponds campus about 12:30am on January 1.

CCTV footage released today shows the two men using tools to repeatedly hit and damage a table tennis table before walking away.

Police allege a fire was then lit at a large school building that contained several classrooms.

Emergency services were called to the fire about two hours later.

“The building was completely destroyed by the blaze,” a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

“More than $4 million worth of damage was caused during the incident.”

The school in Geelong, south-west of Melbourne, is a co-educational P-12 independent college. The fire razed a building at its senior school campus.

The Victoria Police spokesperson said investigators believed the men pictured in the CCTV footage could assist with their enquiries.

They were both wearing dark-coloured hoodies and pants.

One is described as having a solid build and a reddish-coloured beard, while the other is described as having a medium build.
