Occasional Digest - a story for you

LOVE Island All Stars’ Luis Morrison has hit back at claims he’s left his kids for a second shot at fame on the reality dating show.

Season one veteran Luis, 29, has a daughter called Vienna with fellow Islander ex Cally Jane Beech and son Romeo with influencer ex Chloe Elizabeth.

The car dealership director has been accused by Love Island fans of neglecting his dad duties by going into the South African villa.

But in an exclusive interview with The Sun, Luis is confident they’ll be fine with their mums.

He said: “I think it could be hard but they’ve obviously got their mums there looking after them, and they’re great mums.”

Addressing the criticism directly, he added: “There’s not really much to say about it really.”

At the time he jetted off to South Africa, both Vienna and Romeo were unaware he was going on the programme.

Asked if they will be watching, Luis said: “I didn’t actually say anything to my kids, I wasn’t actually allowed. I’m sure they know now that I’m going on but I didn’t tell them. I just said I was going on holiday for a bit. I didn’t say I was going on Love Island, I wasn’t allowed.

“The only people I did actually tell, were the people actually really close to me and a tight-knit group of friends and obviously my mum and dad. But there were not many people that knew.”

Despite some acrimonious moments with his exes since their respective splits, Luis hopes both Cally and Chloe will be cheering him on.

He said: “I would hope so because it does benefit our kids too. And hopefully I will find the one on this Love Island like I did previously.”

The timing couldn’t have been better professionally for Luis after he recently hung up his boots as a semi-professional footballer.

His 14-year playing career included spells at Nuneaton, Bury and Stafford.

Looking ahead to what’s next, he said: “I obviously recently retired from football in September, so to have this opportunity to go on a dating show to potentially find someone to fall in love with, is a dream come true.

“I feel like there’s loads of opportunity to do bits of TV. I’ve retired from football now fully, so I feel the world is out there to whatever comes to me. I’m open to it. Hopefully to stay on TV that would be great. But if there are other opportunities as well I’m open.”

Find out if Luis can make an instant impression by tuning into Monday night’s launch show at 9pm on ITV2.
