A car has struck a pedestrian in Devonport’s CBD and crashed into a building, with police warning of a “potential gas leak” in the area.
Police said the incident happened on Rooke Street, near the mall and main thoroughfare through the city’s centre.
Police said details of the pedestrian’s injuries were not yet known.
“Police and emergency services remain at the scene of a crash on Rooke Street at Devonport where a car struck a pedestrian and the front of a building,” police said in a statement.
“There is a potential gas leak in the area and police have put a 100m exclusion zone in place around the vicinity.”
People in the area are being asked to leave.
