Occasional Digest - a story for you

According to a press release by the US department of State:“Secretary Antony J. Blinken will travel to Istanbul, Türkiye; Crete, Greece; Amman, Jordan; Doha, Qatar; Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates; Al ‘Ula, Saudi Arabia; Tel Aviv, Israel; the West Bank; and Cairo, Egypt from January 4-11, 2024.

Throughout his trip, the Secretary will underscore the importance of protecting civilian lives in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza; securing the release of all remaining hostages; our shared commitment to facilitating the increased, sustained delivery of life-saving humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and the resumption of essential services; and ensuring that Palestinians are not forcibly displaced from Gaza.  He will also discuss urgent mechanisms to stem violence, calm rhetoric, and reduce regional tensions, including deterring Houthi attacks on commercial shipping in the Red Sea and avoiding escalation in Lebanon.  The Secretary will reaffirm the U.S. commitment to working with partners to set the conditions necessary for peace in the Middle East, which includes comprehensive, tangible steps toward the realization of a future Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel, with both living in peace and security”.

It was noticed that the press release is full of contradiction, where as it says the protection of civilians lives, but, on the other hand, the US is continuously providing weapons and ammunitions to Israel to carry on massacre and genocide of Palestinians. Even, vetoed the ceasefire resolution in the United Nation Security Council (UNSC) to stop bloodshed in Gaza. Not only vetoed, but pressurized many other countries to oppose ceasefire. It changed the wording of resolution on the request of Israel, till, it becomes ineffective and then obtained, to let it passed in the UNSC.

Looking at the magnitude and volume of US support and assistance to the Israel, is obvious reason for this bloodshed in Gaza. Imagine, without the unlimited, unconditional, and irrational backing of the US, could Israel can do such brutalities and atrocities in Gaza???

The Secretary of State, Mr. Blinken, is already in the region and had met leadership in Turkey, Jordan, Qatar, and will meet other nations in the next couple of days. It seems that he is lobbying for Israel. President Trump’s administrations also did lobbying for Israel, resulting recognition of state of Israel in the few Muslim nations. Some more, were in the pipe line to establish the diplomatic relations with Israel.

The core issue of the entire region is Palestine, ignoring the core issue and without addressing the Palestine issue, any achievement is not sustainable. It will be more fruitful, if the Secretary of state, instead of visiting so many countries in the region, should have gone to Israel only and convince it for a two state solution – creation of sovereign and independent state of Palestine, from river to sea, in its original state of pre-1967.

Israel has been excessively using military power to push Palestinian out of their motherland. But all of its atrocities and brutalities failed to suppress the spirit of Palestinian for self-determination for almost Seven-Decades. It is the legitimate right of Palestinian and given by the United Nation Security Council Resolutions passed since long. Their struggle for home land is legitimate and justified absolutely.

It is time for Israel to understand that, if they cannot suppress Palestinian struggle for Seven-decades, they will not succeed in future. The only way forward is to create a sovereign and independent Palestine to its original state of Pre-1967 borders.

The US must review its past practice of blindly supporting the state of Israel in all its aggressions. And should revise its strategy to achieve a sustainable peace in the regional as well as globally. It is time to wash black spot on the image of the US in the Muslim world. Continuity of illogical support to aggressive Israel may harm the US ultimately.

It is time to think wisely and address the core issues seriously. Act smartly and avoid repeating past mistakes. It is never late, as long as, things are rectified, further bloodshed is averted, and the world might forget past and move forward with hopes and optimism.
