KORN will be reuniting for their first UK gig seven years after the band was rocked by addiction and drama.

Lead singer Jonathan Davis, who is celebrating 22 years of sobriety, will be taking to the stage in London this summer.

The rock stars have been going since 1993, but for Davis, the fame was a heavy burden to carry.

He admitted that he started using the drug before the band soared to the top of the charts.

Speaking to Jackass’s Steve-O on his podcast, he said: “…I got sober right after we did the third record.”

“So I stopped meth when we started touring because I couldn’t function; there’s no way I could be up for two days and tour and keep it together, and I had to stop,” he added.

“So the day we took off on tour, the first tour with House Of Pain and Biohazard, we got in our trailer and we built bunks, and I just got on that bunk and I slept for five fucking days, got up and played a show, and that’s when I kicked it.”

He said that it would be “impossible” to fully tour whilst doing meth, so he switched to drinking and different drugs instead.

“…And then I became a raging alcoholic – and cocaine occasionally when I could find it,” he said.

In 2019 Korn released a full-length album The Nothing, which he said helped him deal with the grief of losing his wife.

“Unfortunately, my wife died of an overdose so I had to go through that,” he said.

“It was hard you know, addiction and mental health issues and all these things going on. So I dealt with making that record, it was hard. But, you know I got through it and I am good now, everything is great.”

Talking of his sobriety, Jonathan said: “Tomorrow is my 22nd f****** year. It’s insane,” he says.

“…I started doing meth when I moved to Huntington. There’s a lot of meth there from Bakersfield and I got hooked up with someone that was giving me tons of it there.”

There was also a dynamic drama for the band after drummer David Silveria was booted from the band in 2006 on a “temporary hiatus” before they sued him over a disagreement over royalties.

Yahoo reported that Silveria violated the terms of their break-up deal.

The band’s original members and Silveria agreed in 2006 that should he leave the band, he would give up his rights to royalties for one lump sum payment.

According to legal documents, Korn and Silveria entered into a settlement agreement and dismissed the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Court.

Korn will be touring the UK in August this year, starting with Scarborough Open Air Theatre.

They’ll wrap up in Gunnersbury Park before heading off on their rest of their tour.
