The 81st Golden Globe Awards is hosted by comedian Jo Koy at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, California and airing live on CBS.
There are two new award categories this year: one for cinematic and box office achievement and another for best performance by a stand-up comic on television.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is nominated for the former, and Swift is attending tonight’s ceremony in a stunning green, metallic dress – and without her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The host opened up the awards ceremony with a monologue that viewers immediately took to social media to slam his monologue as “awkward” and “embarrassing.”
“This is painfully awkward and embarrassing please move on who is this host,” one slammed on X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Ooof, Jo Koy is bombing at #GoldenGlobes. It’s so uncomfortable even he’s acknowledging it’s awkward,” another noted.

Variety and Entertainment Tonight’s digital red carpet pre-show will be available to stream starting at 3:30 pm PT/6:30 pm ET.
It will stream on the Golden Globe Awards website, Variety’s digital and social platforms, ETOnline.com, and additional digital publications owned by Penske Media Corp.

How to watch the Golden Globes
Unlike previous years, this year’s award ceremony will not air on NBC.
The Golden Globes are officially under new ownership and will air live on CBS instead.
The show will also be available to stream live on Paramount+ with Showtime starting at 5 pm PT/8 pm ET on Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Viewers will also be able to watch the show the following day, Monday, January 8, 2024, with the Paramount+ Essential plan.
