Fans of the long-running ITV soap watched as bosses introduced a new character.
Jack Carroll has taken up the role of Bobby, the son of caged Rob Donovan.
Just as Carla waved goodbye to Peter Barlow in heartbreaking scenes, Bobby arrived on her doorstep.
Rob had been trying to contact her to let her know about her nephew’s impending visit but she had missed his calls.
But as Carla struggles to adjust to Bobby’s presence, Coronation Street fans haven’t warmed to him either.

Taking to social media, one said: “Bobby seems to have gone down like a lead balloon. Not only does his introduction feel totally pointless- just like Cassie’s- but it screams of stunt casting.”
A second posted: “If Rob had been reintroduced, it might have had some point to it, but this just feels so contrived and unnecessary. It seems like it’s a complete flop so far.”
“There needs to be a major clear out for any changes to really take place at Corrie,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “All seems like a stupid retcon to me and like so many other in the show lately that’s what kills it to me.”
Bobby Donovan star Jack, 25, is no strange to TV having took part in Britain’s Got Talent.
The comedian came runner up on the ITV variety contest at the age of just 14.
Coronation Street continues on ITV1 and ITVX.
