She shared her thoughts on how she came to terms with her open partnership and how she got there.

Danielle (@openlycommitted) shares videos about open relationships, dating, family life, and beauty with her 141,000 followers.

In a recent clip, she replied to a viewer’s comment which asked how she initially reacted when her now-husband first brought up the idea of non-monogamy.

“In the beginning, I was hurt and confused, and it made me doubt our relationship,” she said.

They had only been together a couple of months when her partner first raised the topic.

At first, Danielle was “in shock” at the suggestion, as she thought that she had met her life partner and that non-monogamy was a barrier to that for her.

However, she soon came to realize that non-monogamy was “a choice me and my husband would be making together,” rather than an ultimatum.

Something that influenced the mom’s decision to explore non-monogamy was that she had seen monogamy fail a lot of people.

“I was curious enough to try to figure out if there could be a different style of relationship that would work for me,” she stated.

She said that she ultimately decided that it was right for her by considering the kind of relationship that would work best for her future.

“I asked myself how I wanted to live my life in a partnership,” she said.

“I’ve often felt that non-monogamy was a choice I made for myself and that my husband and I made together, to create a partnership that was specific to us.”

Her priority was to “give each other the most happiness in our lifetimes as possible.”

She now loves the partnership she created with her husband and feels that non-monogamy gives them both the chance to experience more love in their lives.

“My feelings about being in an open marriage are completely different from what they were 13 years ago when my husband suggested the idea,” she finished.

Danielle’s TikTok explores many facets of living in an open relationship, including how she and her husband manage the intricacies of dating with children.

In a recent video, she spoke about going on a date to Hawaii while her husband stayed with their children, and how her daughter asked her not to leave.

Many commenters were intrigued and supportive of Danielle’s decision, but some questioned the need for an open relationship.

“Good for you! It’s a choice that needs tons of communication. My person and I have been non-monogamous for 21 happy years,” wrote one viewer.

“I totally respect this! I’m personally far too selfish to share my man but I love hearing what other people decide!” said another.

“One person is more than enough!” wrote one commenter.
