The two-hour extravaganza was fronted by Jason Manford and Alesha Dixon, and featured performances from the likes of Becky Hill and Busted.
But some people tuning in were not happy about a special film than aired during the seasonal show, where various celebrities talked about the dangers of climate change.
The two-minute clip saw famous faces from Idris Elba and Olivia Colman to Hollywood actress Glenn Close speak out about the need for urgent action to save our planet.
Many viewers weren’t impressed though, claiming New Year’s Eve was not the time for ‘woke’ messaging, or being ‘lectured’ to by wealthy stars.
“Here we go, filthy rich w****** lecturing the plebs on climate change,” fumed one viewer.
“Another woke-fest yet again,” vented a second.
“Talking about the environment…who cares on NYE,” shrugged a third.
“Global warming b******s time!!” ranted a fourth.
“Oh **** off with your preaching about climate change,” agreed a fifth. “It’s NYE ffs. Have a day off.”
The broadcast was filmed earlier this month at the Ovo Arena in Wembley, London.
Take That, Paloma Faith and Jax Jones also performed during the two-hour broadcast.
There was also a nod to The Masked Singer as a mystery celebrity came out in a Hedgehog costume to perform.
A celebrity panel including comic Rosie Jones, Olympian Greg Rutherford and It Takes Two host Fleur East had to guess the identity.
Guesses ranged from Ed Sheeran to Ben Affleck, but sadly none were correct – it was Matt Willis from Busted who was eventually unmasked.
Matt will not appear on the main Masked Singer show, however, as this was just a bonus treat for Big Bash viewers.
The show also highlighted people who have made a positive impact in their community as a result of National Lottery funding.
