ASDA shoppers have gone wild for “35p” Pringles after confusion over an offer sign – with workers calling out the real price on the tannoy

A London woman took to Twitter after witnessing people “fighting and clamouring” over the crisps yesterday afternoon.

She said: “Screaming. I’m in Asda and people misread the sign thinking the Pringles were 35p.”

The shopper shared a snap showing that Asda was actually offering customers 35p in their Asda Rewards Cashpot if they bought a £1.85 tube of Pringles.

She said: “They were fighting & clamoring like old school Black Friday.

“People put whole crates on their trolley. Now customer services is overrun with Pringles refunds.”

The scramble for Pringles only ended when one customer tore down the sign.

The Twitter user said: “The man holding the sign is a civilian who couldn’t take the insanity any longer so tore the sign down.

“For the rest of the shop they were announcing intermittently ‘Pringles are £1.85’ on the tannoy.

“I was so confused. Even if it’s 35p, relax?”

Asda has been contacted for comment.

People took to social media to share their own experiences of Christmas supermarket carnage.

One shopper said: “Some div in Lidl held up queue for ages because he thought the sign for the turkey said it was £3.

“Took way too long for staff to explain it was £3 per kg.”
