And in tonight’s Christmas Special, Judith made a final appearance as the episode looked back on some special moments and with some items, updated viewers on what happened next.

Host Fiona Bruce said: “Over the years we’ve seen hundreds of toys brought into the roadshow, given that it’s Christmas, we’re going to show some of them to you now.”

Then in a voiceover she added: “We begin with our beloved expert Judith Miller, who sadly died in April after 15 years with us on the roadshow, and a lifetime of sharing her antiques expertise.”

As she spoke, a montage of clips of Judith smiling at various locations for the show as she appraised people’s items appeared on screen.

The clip bosses chose to show was from last year at Brodie Castle, when she got to value a toy bus from around 1912.

The lady who brought it in was from the US and revealed her grandfather – who was from the UK – had brought it over and she got it from him.

Judith was pleased to see the bus still had it’s driver, and while it was “age-worn” and was missing seats on the top, she thought it was “a beautiful example of its type”.

She then valued it at £800-1,200 and the lady joked: “Pays for the trip to the UK.”

Following the announcement of her death, Fiona, 59, paid tribute to Judith saying: “When I started on the Antiques Roadshow, I was in awe of the experts – and none more so than Judith.

“She was Miller of Miller’s Guides no less, the bible of the antiques world when it came to valuations.

“She was always gracious and generous with her knowledge, helpful to me and our whole team.

“And when our filming day had finished, she was never short of great stories, accompanied by a glass of her favourite tipple, Pinot Grigio.

“She was the doyenne of the antiques world and of our show. Irreplaceable. And hugely missed.”

Antiques Roadshow airs on BBC One and is available on BBC iPlayer.
