Drew Lock threw a 28-yard touchdown pass with just 28 seconds remaining as the Seattle Seahawks kept their play-off hopes alive with a dramatic 20-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 27-year-old drove Seattle 92 yards on 10 plays before finding Jaxon Smith-Njigba to make the decisive score.

Lock was making just his second start of the season with first-choice quarter-back Geno Smith out injured.

“Amazing won’t do it justice but amazing,” Lock told ESPN.

Lock only found out he was playing shortly before the game with Smith listed as available despite struggling with a groin injury.

He had only made one start and two substitute appearances for the Seahawks since being traded from the Denver Broncos in 2022.

“It takes a special group to rally around the guy that has come into his second game of the year,” he added.

“For a team like that, not just the offense but the defence to rally around me tonight, that was amazing,”

The win ended a run of four losses for the Seahawks to move them to 7-7 for the season and give them a chance of reaching the post-season.

The Eagles have already secured a play-off place but have lost three straight matches and are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for first place in the NFC East division.

San Francisco 49ers remain in front in the race to claim the top seed in the NFC and a first-round playoff bye.

The result also means NFC North leaders the Detroit Lions have not yet clinched a play-off spot, but can secure second seed in the conference if they win their final three regular-season games.
