Occasional Digest - a story for you

A DYSON AirWrap dupe has been making waves online, with some claiming it makes for the perfect Christmas gift.

An influencer took to social media to recommend shoppers grab the dupe, sold by popular discount retailer Five Below, as it supposedly offers the same results as Dyson’s product.

“Umm is this the PERFECT gift?!” exclaimed Five Below’s official TikTok account (@fivebelow) in a recent clip on the platform.

In the video, an influencer could be seen showing the box for the three-in-one styling hair dryer before testing it out on her own hair.

The price was noted at $20, a stark difference from the Dyson AirWrap’s listing at $599.99.

“Always start with heat protectant,” an on-screen caption read while she unboxed and attached the pieces to make the device.

The influencer could then be seen using the dupe for a short while until her hair was up to “90 percent” dry.

Using the brush attachments provided, she then separated and sectioned her hair into manageable parts.

“Switch to round brush for bounce,” the influencer told viewers.

She could be seen curling different sections, noting that the process, specifically with the front strands, should always be done away from the face.

“Sooo shiny” the influencer beamed while showing off the final result of her hair styling.

Five Below encouraged shoppers in the clip’s caption to rush before time runs out on the chance for the Christmas deal.

“This 3-in-1 styler dupe is theeee gift this holiday szn! just look at that shine RUN to 5B before it sells out!” the retailer exclaimed.

Despite the potential of the dupe styling dryer, viewers had mixed experiences with the product.

Some claimed it immediately malfunctioned upon use.

“Bro I bought this and it broke like ONE MINUTE after using it,” one person claimed.

“I bought it and it literally stopped and started smoking,” another echoed.

A third added: “Got the first half of my hair dry and then the heater went out and started smoking. Guess I’ll be returning it.”

Even with the claims of problems with the device, some were hopeful and amazed by the deal.

“This looks great!” one person wrote.

Another said: “First love yall.”
