A MOM has shared a trick she uses to alter her growing children’s clothing.

She explained the hack helped the clothes last a few more seasons after her children outgrew the sleeves.

The mom (@mwrn188) shared the advice with her TikTok followers.

She lifted a pink jacket that her daughter outgrew last year: “My 3T daughter was a 2T last year,” she explained, showing off the 2T tag.

“Just a little small, nothing horrible, but apparently, there’s a string in here you can cut that will extend it,” she said.

She pulled down the sleeves of the jacket to reveal a red string: “I’m going to give it a try and see if we can get another year out of this coat,” she said.

With a pair of scissors, she cut the string and pulled it out of the jacket sleeve, only for the sleeve to extend in length.

“Now we have a whole cuff whereas before, it was like this,” she said, revealing the longer sleeve.

“Should be able to get another season out of it, thank you Cat and Jack and Target,” she said.

Parents took to the comments to share their thoughts on the hack.

Many were shocked the brand didn’t advertise the nifty little trick.

“Why do they not put this info on the tags?” said one commenter.

Others noted the hack was a common trend among kids’ clothing: “Gerry snow pants from Costco too!!! The ones with the suspender straps! Lasted us two years,” said one parent.

“REI kids’ jackets also do this!” added another.
