An elderly woman has died in hospital after allegedly being sexually assaulted in a nursing home on the New South Wales Central Coast almost two weeks ago.
The woman, aged in her 90s, was taken to hospital suffering serious injuries after the alleged assault.
Police allege a man broke into a facility in Bateau Bay in the middle of the night on November 15 when he sexually assaulted a woman.
Police have confirmed the woman died in hospital this morning.
A report will be prepared for the coroner and investigations continue.
A 34-year-old man from Caves Beach remains in custody after the alleged attack.
He was charged with several offences, including inflicting actual bodily harm with intent to have sexual intercourse with a victim, aggravated sexual assault and aggravated break and enter.
He was refused bail in Belmont Local Court on November 21 and his matter is due back before Gosford Local Court in February.
