A woman has been arrested after two women were stabbed in Palmerston and taken to hospital late on Saturday night, police say.

One woman, 18, was taken to hospital in a critical condition, both police and St John Ambulance NT confirmed.

NT Police said officers arrived at a unit complex in the suburb of Woodroffe to find three women with knife wounds.

The violence was being treated as a domestic violence incident, police said.

NT Police Watch Commander Sean Patterson said a 25-year-old was arrested and would likely be charged later today after an 18-year-old was stabbed in the head and thigh and a 28-year-old was stabbed in the neck and shoulder.

The 25-year-old was also taken to hospital with a large laceration to the top of her head and was being kept there under police guard, Senior Sergeant Patterson said.

St John Ambulance NT said it transported three patients to Royal Darwin Hospital on Saturday night, with one in a critical condition and two in a serious condition.

“The matter is being investigated by Serious Crime Detectives,” Senior Sergeant Patterson said.
