Occasional Digest - a story for you

S CLUB Juniors star Jay Perry looked unrecognisable as he joined Loose Women legend Denise Welch in a brand new job this week.

Noughties child pop star Jay, 34, shot to fame with the band in 2001, when they were put together on the TV show, S Club Search.

The eight-piece enjoyed six top ten hits in the UK charts, released two albums and even toured the country.

But after they split in 2004, the bandmembers each went their separate ways.

The likes of Rochelle Humes and Frankie Bridge joined The Saturdays later in the decade, before pursuing careers in presenting.

But Jay took the West End route, starring in Hamilton as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton.

More recently, he began fronting a series dedicated to the S Club Juniors where he hosts Instagram Live interviews with his former bandmates.

It looks like he has another big job on his hands, though, as Denise’s Story saw him in rehearsals alongside her for Diana: The Musical.

The TV personality wrote in her caption, “First rehearsal of ‘Diana’ the Musical with these West End legends!!!” while tagging her co-stars.

She’s taking on the role of Queen Elizabeth II, when the Broadway spectacle comes to London for one night only next month.

Jay, meanwhile, is playing James Hewitt – a former Army captain who once disclosed an affair with Princess Diana.

Princess Diana: The Musical had its Broadway premiere in November 2021, with a recording later being released on Netflix.

It has been widely slammed by critics, receiving one star reviews and mockery on social media.
