The Met Office predicts things will turn colder from the north today as a narrow band of rain sinks south across Scotland and northern England.

They say wintry showers are possible later in the far northeast.

Meteorologist Alex Deakin also says there’s a possibility of snow today in Scotland.

He explained: “By the time we get to Friday afternoon most places will have been hit with that colder air and single figure temperatures.

“When you add on the wind it will certainly feel colder – especially in that North-east corner where there will be some snow showers coming in.

“Elsewhere we’re not expecting sleet or snow except maybe on the top of hills across northern England.”

Tomorrow things will become become largely dry with cloud lingering across the south and west well into the afternoon.

The forecast reads: “Elsewhere sunny spells developing. Showers, some wintry continue in the north and east.”

Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern added: “By the end of the week we are going to see cold winds arrive from the north.

“It’s going to feel colder this week and there will be some snow showers over, mainly, hills of northern Scotland.

“But elsewhere, with high pressure in place, it is going to be mostly dry on Friday and into the start of the weekend.”
